22 selected Projects under the EU-WOP Programme

Among the projects: Our partnership between MAWV and Luapula Water Supply and Sanitation Company (LpWSSC) to strengthen LpWSSC’s capacities to reduce non-revenue-water and extend service provision in Luapula province, Zambia

The world is facing a huge water and sanitation challenge. Billions of people still cannot count on contamination-free water and lack sanitation systems that protect them from diseases. Water Operators’ Partnerships (WOPs) worldwide are addressing these challenges.

Twenty-two WOPs have been selected from over 140 proposals received under the EU-WOP Programme, a European Union funded initiative managed by GWOPA/UN-Habitat. The Programme is now underway, and the three-year long WOP projects, involving partner utilities from African, Arab, Asian, European, and Latin American Countries are set to begin implementation in early 2022.

This major international WOP initiative aims at increasing access to water and sanitation services, improve operators’ capacity and performance, mobilize financial resources towards SDG6 and strengthen WOP engagement in Europe.

The twenty-two new WOPs were launched at the 4th Global WOPs Congress.

Find out more about the 22 EU-WOP Projects, and what they will be doing for the next three years to achieve SDG6 and the Human Right to Water and Sanitation
